Greetings Parents/Guardians: We have completed our first quarter of school. We have had many accomplishments, but we have many more things that need to be accomplished if we are to reach our goals. I am pleased to announce that our quarterly benchmark scores are the highest in the district. That being said, I believe we can do better yet. We are right on the cusp of being an excelling school. That is a label that will help us to attract the kind of students, families, and staff that will help us to grow and continue to be successful. As I have been reminded, getting an excelling label is a great achievement, but sustaining that label is the key to a really great school. I have faith that we can do this if we remember our vision, keep up our rigorous pace, and work hard together toward our goals. Vista del Sur Traditional School was based on the vision -Excellence Through Unity. That means that it takes all of us working together toward our goals. This includes parents, students, and staff doing their part. Vista is also based on the ideal that we are not bound to the state standard, rather they are the base from which we work. We don’t slow down the curriculum in the classroom to match the rest of the state. We continue to move at our own pace in the hopes that in the next year or two our curriculum is at least a year ahead of the state standard. We have already made strides toward this in many of the grade levels in certain subjects. We have created three goals this year designed to help us to become an excelling school. They are:
I believe if we accomplish these goals we will be the excelling school we know we are. Thank you all for your support, determination, and dedication. Sincerely,
Jim Matthies, Principal |
